Robert Bob A Katz Sr.

Bob was born on, October 23, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA. and moved to Charlotte, NC in the early 1930’s. He graduated from Sharon High School and attended college at Mars Hill, Davidson College, and Drexel Institute of Technology. He served in the U S Army Signal Corp in the Far East and in the occupation of Japan after the WWII ended. His career in apparel sales and manufacturing spanned some 34 years, after which he started a commercial locksmith business, and continued as a consultant and advisor to the management before selling Loc Doc, Inc to his employees.

He married Emily Helms in 1949 and together raised their 3 children. Emily preceded him in death in 2002. Surviving him are his children: Robert A Katz, Jr. of Cocoa, FL, Kathryn (Kitty) Spence of Charlotte and Christopher Katz of Charlotte; a brother, Richard Katz of Charlotte; 5 grandchildren: Ben Burrage, Leana Katz, Summer Fowler, Jenny Eudy and Abby Hinson; 10 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:00P.M. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. The family wishes to invite all who attend the service to join them after for a lite refreshment reception also being held at McEwen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Beginnings Moravian Church, P.O. Box 2278, Huntersville, NC 28078.
