Robert Waddell Ott Sr.

Waddell was born in Fort Mill, South Carolina to George Calhoun and Inez Conyers Ott. He later married the love of his life, Lynda Marie Wallace Ott in 1958. They were married until her death in 2017. They had five children; Lowell, Lynda, Ronnie, Dell and Michael.

He served in the U. S. Navy in the Korean War on the CV19 USS John Hancock and CV42 USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, "The Rosey". He was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 9138.

Waddell worked a long history in the textiles industry retiring from Barnhardt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie and son Ronnie; a granddaughter, Carrie Mae, grandson, Robert Dewayne and great-granddaughter Alexis Marie, one brother Gary and sister Wanda.

Waddell leaves to cherish his memory children, Lowell (Sarah), Linda, Dell (d.Michelle) and Michael (Anne), many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Doris (Eddie), Delores, and brother George "Aaron" (Geneva).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org), American Legion (mylegion.com) or VFW Post 9138, (1442 Harris Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715).

Services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 with a visitation from 1 - 2 pm, and a Memorial Service at 2 pm at McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.
