Robert Dewayne DeWayne Ott Sr.

Robert DeWayne Ott Sr., age 33, of Mt. Holly (formerly of Charlotte) passed away on Thursday February 2, 2017 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. DeWayne (D-Bo) was born in Charlotte on July 3, 1983 to Judy Pope. He graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 2001 and went on to Western Carolina University where he graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

DeWayne then went to work for Harris Teeter in 2005 where he became Dairy Manager. DeWayne was very intelligent, fun-loving and had a wonderful and witty sense of humor. DeWayne was a connoisseur of fine food and dining and had a unique flair for fashion with lots of class. He was also a great lover of sports. To know him was to love him.

DeWayne is survived by his mother, Judy Pope; his step-father, Ronnie Pope; his father, Dell Ott; two children, daughter, Madeleine Makenzie Ott and son Robert DeWayne Ott Jr.; siblings, Chris Little (Paula); Kayla Garcia (Matt); Ryan Pope; Tommy Little (Angela); Ronnie Pope (Jessica) and Lynn Robinson (Danny); paternal grandfather, Robert Waddell Ott Sr., numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles with special recognition to Nannie and Papa and Donna and Todd. DeWayne is predeceased by Uncllleee Bud; maternal grandparents, Tom and Jean Little; paternal grandmother, Marie Ott; cousin, Ronnie Ott and brother-in-law Andrew Garcia Sr.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 7 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC. A service to celebrate DeWayne’s life will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Sherman Branch officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Memorial Park, 9620 Rodney Street, Pineville, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a Trust Fund for Madeleine Ott and DeWayne Ott Jr. at Bank of America in care of Judy Pope.
