Robert Bob Lee Reon

Born in Kansas City, Kansas, Bob was the son of the late John Lymal Reon and Alice Mildred Ross Reon on December 29, 1934. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, serving for 10 years. Bob retired as a school teacher in Miami, Florida after 30 years of service and taught for 5 more years at Piedmont Middle School in Union County, NC. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail and was an active member of Ed Thompson’s Sunday school class. Bob had a wonderful singing voice and sang in many choirs and did solo work at various churches. He was known for his great sense of humor and entertaining stories.

Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jo-Ann Reon of Matthews, NC; children, Rev. Robert M. Reon and wife Dr. Julia Reon of Carrollton, VA, Alice N. Reon of Charlotte, NC, Julie R. Reon-McKinney and husband Scott of Matthews, NC; grandchildren, Rachel, Jessee, Grace and Lindsey Reon; sister, Sophia Dunaway of Vancouver, WA; sisters-in-law, Nellie Rutledge, Betty Byrd and husband Carter, Nancy West and husband Harold; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 19 at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, 732 Indian Trail Fairview Rd., Indian Trail, NC with Rev. Mike Whitson and Rev. Mark Reon officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Helping Hands Ministry or the Randy Huntley Life Group c/o First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, PO Box 2550, Indian Trail, NC 28079.
