Born March 11, 1943, in Charlotte. Clay built his life on determination. Starting with little more than a vision, he transformed opportunity into achievement, building multiple successful businesses.
Clay enjoyed boating and jet-skiing on Lake Wylie, where he lived most of his adult life. He also enjoyed 4-wheelers and motorcycles, both on-road and off-road bikes. Clay was also an avid classic car collector.
Beyond his professional achievements, Clay was a great friend whose wisdom and sense of humor enriched the lives of those around him. He had a vast network of friends, associates, and family.
Clay was preceded in death by his father, Clyde, and his mother, Cavie Stephens Sparrow. He is survived by two brothers and one sister: John Sparrow and his wife, Ginger; Vickie Payne and her husband, Don and Neal Sparrow and his wife, Susie.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on June 30th at Garden Memorial Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m., followed by a memorial immediately after.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Garden Memorial Presbyterian Church in his name.
