

Robin was born in Mecklenburg County on June 25, 1957. He graduated from West Mecklenburg High School. He worked in the construction business all his life specializing in tile/carpentry and renovation of homes. His talents were many and shown through his work for others and his own home. Robin's attention to detail and commitment to excellence were evident in all that he did.
Robin married Susan Marie Raborn on November 23, 1985. These two had a special bond through all the years of marriage, he was country, she was Motown, and it worked for 39 years.
Robin LOVED baseball. He played the sport through his youth and through high school. In his adult life, he began coaching kids at Park Sharon, AAU ball, later moving to high school players. During the past 15 years, Robin coached young men at Providence High School and South Mecklenburg High School. He was a devoted coach with a gift that was shared with each player. Robin's coaching skills and genuine care for his players helped lead both schools to State Championship victories. His pride and excitement for both school’s success were a testament of his dedication and love for the game.
Robin is survived by his wife, Susan Raborn Tench; daughter, Robin Marie Tench; son, Beau Jacob Tench, and his wife Annie Gebhardt Tench; sister Phyllis Tench Brann and her husband Chuck; brother, Steven Craig Tench.
Robin was preceded in death by his loving parents Dillard Edward and Margaret Myers Tench, and his sisters, Patricia Ann Tench, and Sandra Tench Hinson.
Join us at the Providence High School baseball field on Saturday, June 1, 2024, between the hours of 11:00 am – 1:00 pm to celebrate Robin crossing home plate. Casual dress for all. We encourage all past and present ball players to represent by wearing your high school colors.
