

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday February 27, 2024 at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28277, with Father Binoy Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at 10 am in the church chapel.
Roma was born on January 17, 1938 in Wilno, Poland. She was the daughter of Izydor and Stefania Protasewicz of Wilno, Poland. After World War II, she escaped Communist Poland in 1947 with her mother and reunited with her father in England. She immigrated to the United States in 1954 and Port Chester, New York became her home.
Roma graduated from Port Chester High School in 1955. She went on to receive a degree in Economics from the College of New Rochelle (New York) in 1959 and a masters degree in Economics from New York University in 1962. Roma began working at Equitable Life Insurance Company as an insurance underwriter in 1959 in New York City. She later relocated to Orange, Connecticut and eventually moved to Charlotte in 1992. She retired from Equitable in 2001 after 42 years of employment.
Roma dearly loved and enjoyed her family and friends and was an active member of Saint Matthew Catholic Church in Charlotte.
Roma is survived by her son, Edward Janowicz (Lisa) of Charlotte, NC, and her two grandchildren Sofia and Jake Janowicz. She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Monsignor McSweeney World Hunger Drive at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, Post Office Box 49349, Charlotte, NC 28277.
