Ronald "Ron" Almes

Ron was the kind of man whose presence made people feel safe, loved, and at home. He was a gentle soul with a warm heart, a quiet strength, and a deep love for the people who mattered most to him. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his wife, Patricia, with a devotion that spanned over 61years they shared together.

After graduating from high school, Ron proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, attaining the rank of Sergeant and serving in administration. After leaving the Air Force, he began a long and successful career in motel and restaurant management for 40 years which included McDonald’s and Chick-fil-A, before eventually retiring. He was a hardworking, dependable man who took pride in providing for his family and in the relationships he formed along the way.

Ron was an avid sports fan, faithfully cheering on the North Carolina Tar Heels, UNC Charlotte 49ers, and Carolina Panthers. He loved the excitement of the game and especially enjoyed sharing those moments with the people he loved. Some of the most precious memories our family will carry with us are the moments spent together at the beach, moments that may have seemed ordinary at the time but have now become priceless treasures.

We will remember Ron not only for the things he did, but for the way he made us feel. We will remember his kindness, his gentle nature, his stories, his laughter, his familiar presence, and the comfort of simply knowing he was there. We will remember the love in his heart and the pride he took in being a husband, Dad, and Pa-Pa. You will be missed beyond words, remembered with endless love, and never, ever forgotten.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Almes; his children, Jason Almes and his wife, Dana Almes, and Amy Edinger and her husband, Zach Edinger. He was a proud grandfather to Isabel, Jack, Colin, Emma, and Kayden. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott, and his grandson, Brant.
