Ronald Colin Goldstein was born in Atlanta, GA, on December 28, 1947 to Martin Maier Goldstein and Bettye Edelson Goldstein, both deceased. Ronnie is the beloved husband of Barbara Hellman Goldstein and brother of Stephen A. Goldstein (wife Debbie Brickman Goldstein) of Denver, CO, and Richard D. Goldstein, deceased (wife Lisa Segall Goldstein) of Atlanta, GA.
Ronald started his career at Universal Films in Atlanta booking motion pictures into theaters and advanced to Office Manager. In 1972, Ronnie and Barbara moved to Charlotte, NC, for him to work at Eastern Federal Theaters. Ronnie loved promoting the movies and brought many entertainers to Charlotte such as Charlton Heston, Valerie Perrine, Beau Bridges and Ringo Starr.
Ronald changed career fields several times, working at Wachovia (now Wells Fargo) in collections and Piedmont Natural Gas in human resources, and finally into the field he loved the most, veterinary, working at Concord Parkway Animal Hospital and manager of Cabarrus Emergency Animal Hospital. Ronnie also loved adopting dogs, most recently Captain Jack Goldstein, a 76-pound 5 year old standard poodle.
Back in the Reagan days, Ronnie and Barbara adopted a wild mustang from the government, driving to Nashville, TN, to pick up 6 month old WILD HONEY. WILD was definitely true, taking 5 hours to unload her into a stall 10 feet from the trailer. This experience led to them eventually owning 12 breeding mares and having 12 foals in one year.
International traveling was a passion, with Ronnie and Barbara traveling around the world to such places as Russia in the middle of winter, South Africa safari, Egypt exploring King Tut's tomb and the pyramids, seeing the whales and penguins in Antarctica, Norway and Iceland, Europe, and South America. Their favorite was always their annual cruise to Alaska.
Ronnie enjoyed collecting antique Edison phonographs and Victrolas becoming one of the largest collectors in North Carolina. He also collected Howdy Doody toys and anything else Barbara would allow into the house!
