Born in Charlotte on December 12, 1938, Ron was the son of Essie Reid Rainwater and James A. Rainwater. He graduated from Harding High School and attended King's Business College. Ron served in the US Army from 1962 to 1965, including a tour of duty in Vietnam.
In 1974, Ron married June Marie Alexander, and they were devoted to each other for 40 years. He retired from Overnite Transportation Company in 1996.
Ron sang in the choir at St. Martin's Episcopal Church from 1973 until he suffered a heart attack in August this past year. The choir was like a second family to him and June Marie.
