Working with Ron as an ARC shelter volunteer provided an opportunity to see a dedicated worker and committed person in action. He went about the work and provided an air of humor simultaneously. It was my pleasure to get to know him and his family more personally following the death of his wife. Rest in peace Ron. You will be missed. 

We enjoyed muscle cars, NASCAR, golf and guns together, a kind heart, ready smile, strong social bonds and friends. For some 15 years together, a group of Canadians has visited Carolina to play golf with Ron, courtesy of his logistics genius.  We made him an honorary Canadian we feel so strongly about Ron.  He was a great friend, I feel honoured to have spent a week in his home last visit, drinking scotch and sharing stories, from his time in the Red Cross to the Marines, from air traffic control to trying to control our golf swings: we always had a great time together.  Ron will be missed, Godspeed my friend! wherever spirits go, I know yours will be welcome.

In the years we came to know Ron, we were always impressed with his joviality and keen spirit.  Ron was a kind-hearted man, who made friends easily.  He contributed to our community for many years, and in many ways, volunteering with The American Red Cross, where me met.  He will, indeed, be greatly missed.

I only had the pleasure of knowing Ron for a short while since coming to the Charlotte Metro Chapter of the Red Cross.  In that short period I found one of the best people I have known in my life.  Always upbeat, with a smile, Ron was always willing and able to complete anything asked of him.  I enjoyed my conversations with Ron and felt his enthusiasm for whatever subject was discussed.   He will be sorely missed.
