He was born on October 1st, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Donald Maurice Whilden and Mary Davis Whilden while his father was in the service. At three months old, Ron’s parents moved back to Charlotte where he lived for the remainder of his life.
After graduating West Mecklenburg High School in 1972, Ron went to work in the family window treatment business, Newton and Newton of Charlotte. He continued to work and operate the business for 48 years.
