Ronald Whitaker

Ronald L. Whitaker of Charlotte, NC passed away on September 15, 2016. He was the son of the late William A. Whitaker and Mary L. Whitaker and had been diagnosed of having cancer. Ron was a former employee of Telics, a division of AT&T. He studied at Central Piedmont Community College. In Ron's own words, "he was looking for his place in this world and was enjoying the search." Ron did enjoy the outdoors and photography. He also had a fascination with aircraft and even tried his hand at scuba diving. Ron's greatest legacy was that he enjoyed meeting and talking with people. He was one of Facebook's biggest fans. He always tried to make people think, dream or just show them something that would make them laugh. Ron found himself becoming an advocate for missing and abused children and he used Facebook as a platform to tell the world that there was a problem and that it needed to be fixed. Ron is survived by his two brothers, William R. Whitaker and his wife Cathy of Pineville, NC & Donald H. Whitaker of Charlotte, NC; Niece Amanda, Dan and Addison Rollins of Pineville, NC; Cousins, Susan Collins and Karen Chapmen of Wilmington, NC; Tom, Pam and Kim Pittman of Myrtle Beach, SC and Atlanta, GA; Jeff and Gary Campbell of Charlotte and Florida. A memorial service will be held for Ron on September 24, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at Forest Lawn West with a short family visitation prior to the service. In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to: Levine & Dickson Hospice House or the Levine Cancer Institute.
