CHARLOTTE, NC - Mr. Roy Otto Davis Jr., age 73, of Charlotte, died early Friday morning, December 6, 2013, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born July 4, 1940, in Charlotte, he was the son of the late Roy Otto Davis, Sr. and Sybil Owens Davis.
Naturally gifted mechanically, Mr. Davis was a certified auto mechanic and greatly enjoyed building racing engines for racing karts. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, Karting and Drag Racing.
Mr. Davis had formerly served with the US National Guard.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Barbara Rankin Davis; two children, Lori Talbot of Charlotte and Robert Davis and his wife, Pam of Boiling Springs, SC; and six grandchildren, Austin, Emma, Brandon, Jacob, Krista and Gabriel. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a sister, Lena Pippin.
A private memorial service is planned.
