Ruby Hope Smith

Mrs. Smith, 88, of The Cove of Charlotte, NC, passed away Friday, November 2, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center – University.

She was born January 14, 1924 in Charlotte, North Carolina, one of eight children, to the late William Christopher Hope and Grace Teresa West Hope.

The Smith family will gather to greet friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Sunday, November 4, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon. A service to celebrate her life will be held 1:00 pm, Monday, November 5, 2012 at Newell Baptist Church with The Reverend Scott Keith officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her two daughters: Christine Smith and Hope Smith Heebsh both of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Hope Wood and a brother, W.C. Hope and wife, Pat of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ret. Lt. Commander Austin Benjamin “A.B.” Smith (USN) , one grandson, two brothers and three sisters.
