Rudolph “Rudy” Smith Sr., age 80, of Charlotte passed away January 9, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Emma Smith and son Lester Edward Smith. Surviving are his children Rudolph Jr. (Kristen) Smith of Gastonia, NC, Lynn Smith Anderson of Huntersville, NC, Ricky (Betty) Smith of Charlotte, NC, Stacey Smith of Los Angeles, CA, and Casey (Hayatt) Smith of Mt. Holly, NC, grandchildren Dean Anderson II, Edward Smith, Emma Grace Smith and Hayden Smith, great grandchild Grady Anderson. Also surviving are four sisters and one brother. Mr. Smith was born May 20, 1934 in Goldsboro, NC son of the late Lester Blanco and Nannie Jones Smith. Mr. Smith was the second generation owner of Motor Casting Repair since 1954 and was a master welder. He was a dedicated family man and avid golfer. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Tuesday, January 13th in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, Reverend Eric Lively officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm prior to the service. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rudolph Smith Jr., Ricky Smith, Casey Smith, Dean Anderson, Shawn Lewis and Richard Welch.
