Ruth Stilwell Dellinger, 83, of Stanley, passed away October 5, 2021 in her home. Born January 1, 1938 in Gaston County, she was the daughter of Claude F. and Mary (Helton) Stilwell. She married Linden C. Dellinger Sr. on October 10, 1958 in Gaffney, SC.
A graduate of Mount Holly High School, she was a member of Hills Chapel United Methodist Church and the Lincoln Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors. Ruth along with her husband, Linden, co-founded L.C. Dellinger Building Company and the L.C. Dellinger Building Supply Company.
She enjoyed traveling, attending the games of the Davidson Wildcats and the Atlanta Braves, gospel musicals and most of all, spending time with her family.
Survivors include her sons, Linden (Patti) Dellinger Jr. and Marcus (Megan) Dellinger; grandchildren, Terra (Scott) Roach, Andrew (Rhonda) Dellinger, Joseph (Jackie) Dellinger and Macoy Dellinger; great-grandchildren, Madison, Fallon, Tinsley and Jayden; numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband and parents; sister, Mildred Nixon; brothers, Claude, Guy and Charles Stilwell; a dear friend, Edith Shipp.
Ruth’s family would like to give “Special Thanks” to all of her caregivers.
A visitation for Ruth will take place Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. in the Nelson Center at Hills Chapel United Methodist Church, 988 NC-16, Stanley, NC.
