

Ruth was born on May 11, 1938, in Storndorf Kreis Hirschberg, Germany, to the late Gunter and Margarete Riesel. She spent her early years in Germany before marrying the love of her life, Jakob Laue. Together, they built a new life in the United States, bringing with them the strength, resilience, and traditions.
Ruth was known for her toughness, fairness, and work ethic. A devoted wife, friend, and member of her community, she had a vibrant spirit. Ruth had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and offered kindness and friendship to every person she met. She loved to open her home to family and friends, often entertaining with warmth, laughter, and good food. Whether in her garden, with a pair of knitting needles in hand, or singing and dancing to her favorite tunes, Ruth found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
She was a proud member of the German American Club of Charlotte and the U.S. National Whitewater Center.
Ruth will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her strength, kindness, and unforgettable spirit.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Jakob Erntest Laue.
She is survived by her son, Udo Laue; grandsons, Justin Laue and Eric (Brittany) Laue; and great granddaughters, Aulbree and Olivia Laue.
Family will be holding a service at a later date to celebrate Ruth's life and legacy.
