Samuel David Stewart

Mr. Stewart, age 88, of Charlotte, died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital. Born September 30, 1924 in Hamlet, he was a son of the late Willie Ashley Stewart and Leda Stevens Stewart. Mr. Stewart honorably served in the United States Army during WWII. He retired as a letter carrier of the Postal Service. Mr. Stewart was a member of the K&W Frequent Diners Club. His favorite hobby was bowling.

The service to celebrate the life of Samuel David Stewart will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in the chapel of Wilson Funeral & Cremation Service. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Stewart was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lois Griffin Stewart; three children, Jan Stewart Williams of Indian Trail, Eric Stewart of Charlotte and Mitzi Stewart Grady of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren; and a great granddaughter. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by all five of his siblings.
