Sandra Jean Huffman

Sandra Jean Harkey Huffman, age 59 formerly of Charlotte passed away October 9, 2011 at New Hanover Hospital in Wilmington, N. C. A service to celebrate her life will be at 2:00PM Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Mulberry Presbyterian Church, Reverend Chris Carrasco officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral hour in the church parlor at Mulberry Presbyterian Church.

Ms. Huffman was born May 28, 1952 in Charlotte, was formerly a member of Mulberry Presbyterian Church and United Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. She was a graduate of West Mecklenburg High School and a graduate of Western Carolina College. She then moved to Wilmington to raise a family and there she taught Elementary School fifteen years and touched the lives of many children. Sandra then began and operated her own construction supply business. She was a beautiful, amazing and strong woman, friend, mother, daughter and loved the ocean and animals.

Surviving are her daughter, Kimberly Huffman and father, Michael Huffman, mother, Margaret Harkey of Charlotte, brother, Larry Harkey and wife, Lorraine of Stacy, NC, and cousin Alan Harkey of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul W. Harkey and a brother, Steve Harkey.
