Sharon spent her early childhood in Selma, Alabama, before moving to Montgomery. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and later from Troy State University in June 1968, where she majored in early childhood education.
Soon after graduating, Sharon married James Donald Moore of Flint, Michigan, following his return from military service in Vietnam. Together they had their daughter, Christine.
Guided by her love of learning, Sharon became a teacher and taught in Alabama and Georgia. Her appreciation for books remained a cherished part of her life. An avid reader, she could happily spend hours immersed in one book after another.
Later in life, Sharon married Charles Pett. Their marriage was short-lived, but Charlie remained a close friend and was considered family until he died in 2013.
Sharon eventually moved to the Charlotte area to be near her twin granddaughters, Ashley and Kayley. Nothing mattered more to her than being near her family. She delighted in hearing about the lives of her daughter and granddaughters, enjoyed discussing history with her son-in-law, Eric, and treasured her late-night telephone conversations with her sister, Patrice. She also took great joy in caring for her many houseplants.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Christine Moore Malone, and son-in-law, Eric Malone; her twin granddaughters, Ashley Malone and Kayley Malone; her sister and brother-in-law, Patrice Brown Boone and Steven Boone; and her nephew, Martin Boone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jimelyn Brown.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.McEwenPinevilleChapel.com for the Pett family.
