Sheryl Nadine Arthurine Grey-Barnes, 54, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, to Fonceta and Neville Grey, Sheryl was the fourth of six children.
She married Talbert Barnes, Jr., and together they raised their beloved son, Tyrell. Sheryl immigrated to the United States in 2002, initially settling in Brooklyn, New York, before moving to Charlotte in 2008. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Accounting from UNC-Charlotte.
Sheryl had a distinguished career in the banking industry, with experience at Dime Savings Bank in New York and Bank of America in North Carolina. Later, she found fulfillment in the long-term care field, where she combined her accounting expertise with her genuine care for people, serving residents and their families with warmth and dedication. Her kindness and compassion touched many lives, and she was deeply loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Talbert, her son Tyrell, sisters Hillary, Donna, Karlene, Nadia, and Natalie, her brother Horace, and a host of family and friends. Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Fonceta and Neville Grey.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte on Monday, September 21, 2026, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association-Greater Charlotte.
