

Shirley L. Adams passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on August 22, 2020 at her Plantation Estates residence in Matthews, NC. She was born in Baltimore, MD on January 3, 1932 to Charles Albert and May Leidlich and was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Jr. of Miami, FL.
Shirley graduated from The Maryland Institute of Art and McCoy College. She began her business career with Guilford Personnel and volunteered as an auxiliary Red Cross Driver ferrying hospitalized veterans to Baltimore Colt football games.
After their marriage Shirley and Bob moved to Pittsburgh, PA, where Shirley became Assistant Personnel Manager at Fisher Scientific. Later, they relocated to Charlotte, NC where Shirley established a successful twenty-year career with Prudential Carolinas Realty. Her thoughtfulness and integrity earned for her the affection and loyalty of both clients and workers.
Shirley contributed her talent to many civic organizations. She also enjoyed weekends on Lake Norman, time in the mountains and at the beach. Bob and Shirley created wonderful memories while traveling to Alaska, Europe and Asia. They retired to Sun City, SC. There, Shirley founded Sun City's largest women's club "The Women's Fellowship", whose speakers shared ways the Lord influenced their lives.
A longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Shirley had a steadfast commitment to her faith. Her beautiful smile would light up a room and her humble, loving nature was felt by all in her presence.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Gregory “Bob” Adams; three children, Gregory (Krista), Wade, and Sherry A. (Bo) Ziegler; and seven grandchildren: Brett, Alexander and Samantha Adams, Jordan and Christian Hodges, and Caroline and Macie Kate Ziegler.
Services at St. John's Episcopal Church will be private.
