It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Shunder Brooks Pollock, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Shunder passed away on October 29, 2026. She was born on March 22, 1974, in Lincoln County to Bobby and Vickie Brooks. From that moment on, she brought light and joy to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Shunder was a beacon of love and warmth, known for her beautiful style, infectious laugh, and the kind of conversations that made everyone feel at home. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and she had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved. Her generous heart and nurturing spirit were evident in everything she did, from her family life to her hobbies and career.
In 1997, Shunder married the love of her life, Cedrick Pollock, in Charlotte, NC. Together, they shared 29 beautiful years, building a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They raised three wonderful children, Pullow Anderson (Tyesha), Sommora Adams (Kameron), and Chandler Pollock (Jasmine), and cherished their roles as grandparents to Peyton Anderson, Morgan Anderson, and Kairo Adams. Shunder and Cedrick shared a passion for gardening and traveling, but most of all, they treasured spending time loving on their grandchildren.
Shunder was deeply devoted to her family, including her surviving father, Bobby Brooks; her parents-in-law, Nell Pollock and Jerome Pollock (Jackie); her siblings, Kueston Brooks, Charneka Brooks (Justin), Shana Hill (Carl), and Jarrell Hunter (Jessica); and her siblings-in-love, Latoya Clark (Joshua), Sharon Lewis, Gwen Pollock, Marvin Pollock (Jen), and Kisha Bethune (Bryon). She was preceded in death by her cherished mother, Vickie Brooks.
Outside of her family, Shunder was a creative and vibrant soul who found joy in making arts and crafts, appreciating the beauty in everyday life, and exploring her many interests. She had a love for music, a charismatic personality, and a natural ability to bring people together wherever she went. Whether through a conversation, a shared laugh, a favorite song, or simply her presence, Shunder had a special way of making people feel seen, welcomed, and at home. Her warmth and dedication extended into her career and every aspect of her life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Though words can never fully capture the beautiful person Shunder was, her legacy will live on through the family she cherished, the friendships she built, and the memories she created. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, music, and meaningful connections. Shunder's story does not end with her passing; it lives on through the lives she touched, the traditions she created, and the love that will forever connect those blessed to call her family and friend.
