It is with deep gratitude and profound appreciation for the life of our father that we share the passing of Sidney R. Harris, Jr. He was born on June 11, 1936, and passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, in Long Beach, California.
Sidney spent his life building a legacy rooted in family, hard work, and quiet strength. He was known for his steady presence, calm spirit, and the way he showed up for his family without hesitation. He valued education, humility, and togetherness, instilling those principles in all who knew and loved him. His character spoke through both his words and his actions, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Sidney was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Helen. Later in life, lightning struck again, and he found new love and companionship with Sandra, with whom he shared eight wonderful years of marriage. He leaves behind a legacy of love and connection. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; his children— Reggie (Joy), David (Theresako), and Ricki (Doug); his grandchildren — Terrel (preceded in death), DJ, Selina, Derek (Kennedy), Kendall, Justin, Sydney, and Aiden. He is also remembered by his sisters-in-law, cherished nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
While we will deeply miss his voice, his humor, and his reassuring presence, we are grateful for the many years we were given with him and for the foundation he built for our family. His legacy lives on in each of us.
