Sofí was born during the Great Depression on September 18, 1929 in Yara, Orient, Cuba. She moved to the U.S. in June, 1962 for new opportunities and a better life.
She was an excellent cook and the time she spent in her yard and garden was her absolute favorite place to be. Her love of family and unity was the most beautiful gift she left. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She was a gently, steady presence in the lives of her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Mayra Colón, of Gastonia; five grandchildren, Nicole, Ashton, Brianna, Jalen, and Brian III, two great grandchildren, Trent and Harmony.
A Celebration of Life will be held sometime in the near future.
