

Steve was born on December 12, 1949 to Roland and Dorothy in Providence, Rhode Island. He grew up in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. During his early teenage years, Steve became the first known hemophiliac to successfully survive an appendectomy.
Steve graduated from Uxbridge High School in 1969. After high school, Steve would go into the workforce for several years but soon felt led to the ministry. Steve would go onto attend and graduate from Fruitland Baptist Bible College in Hendersonville, NC. After graduating from Fruitland, Steve worked in various aspects of the ministry for the remainder of his life. Steve was a long time member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Charlotte.
Steve was very active with several charitable organizations during his life but held a special place in his heart for both Hemophilia of North Carolina and the National Hemophilia Foundation. Steve was a former board member and twice served as the president of Hemophilia of North Carolina. During his time with Hemophilia of North Carolina, the organization helped a countless number of individuals and their families in the bleeding disorder community of North Carolina. Steve also worked tirelessly with the National Hemophilia Foundation and government officials to pass laws that benefitted and protected members of the bleeding disorder community.
Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to many. Steve was preceded in death by his father (Roland Farrar), mother (Dorothy Farrar), and brothers (Roland Farrar and Danny Farrar). Steve is survived by his daughter Tracey Shearer, her husband Nick Shearer, and his only grandchild Harrison Shearer, his son Stephen Michael Farrar and his wife Brittany Farrar, the mother of his children and wife Karen Farrar, his sister Elaine May and her husband Bob May, brother Eric Farrar and his wife Maria Farrar, and his sister-in-law Lisa Farrar, as well as many countless nieces and nephews.
