Stephen Steve Michael Smiley

Stephen Michael Smiley, 58, of Fort Mill, SC passed away on July 27, 2013. He was born on July 1, 1955 in Indianapolis, IN. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1973 and completed training with the IBEW Apprentice Program. Steve enjoyed landscaping and his frequent trips to Lowes for gardening supplies, Disneyworld, antiquing and his cars. He was active in church, having served as a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. Steve was a project manager with WB Moore.

Steve is preceded in death by his brother, David Smiley. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 37 years, Michaelene Smiley of Fort Mill; daughters, Nichole Potters of Plainfield, IN; Stephanie Gifford of Fort Mill, SC and Jenny Erickson of Manning, SC; 9 grandchildren; his parents, Robert and Patricia Smiley; brothers, Bob Smiley and Pat Smiley.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 30 from 6 – 8 pm at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210. The funeral will be at 10 am on Wednesday July 31 at South Charlotte Baptist Church, 12416 Lancaster Hwy., Pineville, NC 28134. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Steve’s honor to the Youth Program at South Charlotte Baptist Church.
