He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1956 where he met the love of his life, Carolyn Kosch. He served two years in the army and spent one of those years in Germany. After his discharge, Stuart and Carolyn settled in New Jersey until 1970, when they relocated to Charlotte to join their family business, Morris Jewelers, in Gastonia. In addition, his grandchildren: Lauren Lafferty (Joe), Jessica Marx, Stacy Marx, Lisa Cotherman (Jesse), Lily Hennes (Rob Shoemaker), Isabel Hennes-Sidle (Glenn), Erica Hennes (fiancé Alan Bebout), and Matthew Hennes. Great-grandchildren: Eleanor & Leo Cotherman, Quinn Hennes-Sidle, Lilly & Harry Lafferty. Brother, Peter Hennes (Monica) and sister-in-law, Elise Menaker.
He is predeceased by his parents and his granddaughter’s husband, Kendall Ross.
The family is grateful to Ratonya Sturdivant for her loving care of Dad over the last several years.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jewish Family Services or Hospice (Via Health Partners South Charlotte).
