

Susan was born on October 11, 1963, and was raised in Canton, Charlotte, and Burlington, North Carolina. She graduated from Walter M. Williams High School in Burlington in 1981 and continued her education at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee and Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte.
Susan was known for her loving spirit, devotion to family and friends, and her sharp-witted sense of humor. She brought warmth, kindness, and laughter to those around her and formed lasting friendships throughout her life.
For more than 30 years, Susan worked as a paralegal in Charlotte, dedicating herself to cases both large and small. She was deeply committed to helping others and was respected for her hard work, compassion, and passion for justice. Through her professional and personal life, she made a meaningful impact on countless individuals in her community.
Susan found joy in reading, creating art, gardening, nature photography, and spending time with her beloved dogs. She was also passionate about volunteering in her community and cherished every opportunity to gather with family and friends.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, R. Bryan Smith; her son, Chandler J. Smith; her mother, Sallie R. Clark; her brother, Greg Clark and sister-in-law, Kim Clark; and her cherished nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father, Otis L. Clark.
Susan's family and friends will remember her for her generous heart, unwavering dedication to others, and the love she shared so freely. Her legacy of kindness, humor, and service will continue to live on in the lives she touched.
