Terry Lynn Morton Sr., 68, of Charlotte passed away on September 16, 2016 after a battle with interstitial lung disease. He was born in Charlotte on May 25, 1948 to the late William and Mary McManus Morton. Terry owned the Royal Super Duper grocery store for many years until the store was sold in the 80’s. He then continued his career as a meat cutter and running Terry’s Deer Processing until his retirement. As a young man Terry roamed the plowed fields of Pineville and Charlotte, in search of arrowheads and Native American artifacts. His passion for the great outdoors continued into his adulthood in the form of rabbit, deer, and coon hunting. He loved any type of hunting he could do running dogs. He hunted with the Shirt Tail Hunt Club and Leesburg Hunt Club. He was also a member of the Rocky Creek Coon Hunters Association. He was known to his hunting buddies at Savannah River Nuclear Site as Dog Pack #14. His favorite hang outs were Pete’s Bait and Tackle and Charlie’s Bait and Tackle; Where he and his buddies hung out and recounted and relived their hunting and fishing adventures, where never a lie was ever told. He enjoyed cooking and good food but most especially, he treasured his ties with family and friends.
Terry is predeceased by his parents and longtime partner, Henry Ella Tillman and 'step-daughter,' Jertana Tillman. He is survived by his son, Terry Morton Jr., 3 grandchildren, Mary, William and Macie Morton; ‘step-family’ which includes daughter, Japrina Tate; grandchildren, Ta’Licia Woods, Ja’Tangela Boyd and Ja’Taja Tillman and great-grandchildren, Timothy Graham and Jacob Griffin.
