Thelma worked as an office clerk for many years at Southern Bell in Charlotte until she retired. Thelma was a music lover; she taught the piano, played both the piano and organ for various small churches, and after retiring, she shared her music with the elderly.
Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence R. McKinney; her parents; and brother, Thomas V. Beaty. She is survived by her daughter, Mona Williams and husband Marshall; and step-daughter, Amanda Fallin, husband Gray, and 2 children.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 2:30pm in Forest Lawn West Cemetery; Reverend Gene Boatwright to officiate.
