Thelma Duffy McNutt

Charlotte - Mrs. McNutt, 95, passed away November 22, 2013 at her son’s residence in San Antonio, TX. She was born to James and Mabel Duffy on August 30, 1918 in New Albany, IN. She was a resident of Charlotte, and a member of St. Gabriel Parish since 1964.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Virginia Carrico; brother, James Duffy; husband, Eugene C. McNutt; son, John E. McNutt; and two infant grandsons.

She is survived by sons, Steven, Phil (Cathy), and Paul (Sandra), and daughters, Ann Marie Jones, Betty Clerkin (Tom), and Judy Black (Bill). She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. McNutt was a bookkeeper prior to her marriage, and during WWII. She was an extraordinary mother and homemaker, and a devoted wife of 64 years.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Harry and Bryant, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. The family will receive friends until 8:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am. on Saturday, November 30th at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, with Reverend Frank O’Rourke, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
