Ben was born on January 7, 1932 in the Bethel Community of Anson County, NC. He was the youngest of four children born to Theodore Benton Capel and Hattie Marsh Capel. Ben retired from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in 1987 after 31 years of service. He will always be remembered for his hard work, love of family and woodworking.
Ben is survived by his bride of 51 years, Lenna Sue McNiel Capel; sons, Benton Capel (Mary Anne) and Jerome Capel (Stacy); grandchildren, Tara, Teddy, Maddie, Ray and Gracie Capel; sister, Mrs. Ann Griffin and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, December 12 at Cole Memorial United Methodist Church from 1:00p.m, to 2:30p.m. A brief memorial service will directly follow.
