Tho Dang

Tho Dinh Dang, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, godfather, and devout catholic, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 in the early hours of February 11, 2025. He was born in Vietnam on October 16, 1941 to Truong Dang and Nhung Pham. He married his loving wife, Huong Thi Phan, on October 23, 1971.

Due to the Vietnam War in 1979, his pregnant wife and 3 kids were forced to escape on a fishing boat to Indonesia then to Anderson, South Carolina. Tho’s journey took him to Holland, where he spent many months searching for his family. They were reunited in April of 1980 sponsored by the Barham family. With the support of their sponsors, the Rolett family, and others; he obtained his Associates degree. Shortly after, he moved his family to Charlotte, North Carolina where he started his lifelong career at IBM.

Tho was a devout Catholic who was straightforward and honest, who was stern in his beliefs and traditions, and always had a soft spot for his family. Throughout the years, he sponsored many family members to the United States and opened his home to countless others. Throughout his life as a predominant member of the Vietnamese community, he enjoyed helping others by teaching them English and Vietnamese, bringing them Eucharist, taking them to appointments, getting their driver’s license and citizenship, graduating school, and so much more.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, 5 loving children, and 5 adorable grandchildren. Tho will always be loved and remembered because he is a part of us all.

Prayer Service and Visitation will be held Thursday, February 20th, 2025 and Friday, February 21st, 2025 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Wilson Funeral & Cremation Services, 5301 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28212.

Tho Dinh Dang will be laid to rest following mass at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212.
