

Tom Burns, 74, passed away suddenly on October 10, 2010 due to complications resulting from an aneurism. He was born in Mercer, KA on October 13, 1935 to the late Leo Edward Burns and Verna B. Ackerman. He also preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Virginia M. Burns.
He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After his military service, he attended Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, NC, graduating in 1961. He enjoyed a fifty year career in sales and marketing.
He is survived by his five children, Douglas P. Burns, David E. Burns, Susan B. Loyd and twins, Carol E. Burns and Joseph B. Burns. His daughter in law, Lorie H. Burns and son in law James N. Loyd; grandchildren, Spencer P. Burns, Griffin H. Burns, James T. Loyd, Kathryn E. Loyd, Jacob P. Loyd and Emily S. Loyd.
A Prayer Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 in the chapel at St. Gabriel Catholic Church with the Reverend Frank O’Rourke officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
