Mr. Nance was born in Rock Hill, SC and grew up in Charlotte, NC where he attended Olympic High School. He was a long-time resident of Belmont, NC. Tom was a truck driver, and had a 30-year career driving tractor trailers both long and short distance, and was most recently employed with Fed Ex Freight of Charlotte. He had a passion for animals, especially his beloved Bandit who ran the road with him for many years, and most recently, his two cats that he took in as strays. Tom wholeheartedly loved his family, friends, and pets. He was a kind-hearted, generous man and was always available to lend a helping hand when asked.
He is survived by his wife, Tracie Nance and step-daughter, Nikki Norris; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Betty Stringer, Mrs. Lynda Brooks, Mrs. Carolyn Wheeler and husband, Jerry, Mrs. Judy Parks and husband, Gene, Robert Nance, Jr. and wife, Terry, Douglas Nance, George Nance and wife, and Diane, Dee (Tweetsie) Alexander and husband, David; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Robert Nance, mother Ruby Brandon Nance, and sister, Mrs. Frances Peigler.
The family would like to recognize and thank all the staff of the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, NC for their care, support and love shown towards Tom during his stay.
A memorial service to honor Tom will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, July 1st, 2022 at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, 4601 Freedom Drive in Charlotte.
