Thomas Taylor

Dr. Thomas N Taylor, 75 of Huntersville, NC passed away at Levine & Dickson Hospice House on November 2, 2017.

Son of the late Wilbur N. Taylor and Nell Taylor was born on April 14, 1942 in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Taylor earned his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Duke University, his M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh and continued his education at N.C. State to earn his PhD.

Dr. Taylor began his career at Duke Power as an Electrical Engineer. He worked for Wachovia as a Systems Analyst. Returning to Duke Energy he worked for 35 years as an Economist. After retirement he became a Professor of Economics at UNCC.

Dr. Taylor played baseball for Duke University and coached little league. He was very active at First Baptist Church of Charlotte serving as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher for 20 years.

Dr. Taylor is survived by his wife Mary Ann; sister Susan Trull; daughter Lori Taylor Spargo and her husband, Rick; sons Jeffrey N. Taylor and his wife Cindy Garcia-Bennett and Kenneth B. Taylor and his wife Stephanie; grandchildren Christopher and Wesley Spargo, Sophie, Mia, Phoebe, Bea, Valentina, Charlotte, John, Sam and Calvin Taylor who loved their G-Pa dearly.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 6, 2017 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Charlotte 301 South Davidson St., Charlotte, NC 28202. Funeral service will be in the sanctuary of the church at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212.
