He was in the company of his loving wife, Joan. Born April 25, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the only son to the late Mary and Francis Wurm. Tom was a devoted family man and loved his “special beers” and a good bottle of Gin. Tom and Joan enjoyed traveling the world and taking evening walks. He enjoyed cooking, watching football and playing golf. From his kind heart to his great sense of humor, he always kept his family laughing. He was known for his Tom’s NC Hot Sauce.
Tom is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joan Wurm; four children, Laura Rhodes (Bob Rhodes) of Charlotte, NC, Ellen Rogers of Ponte Verde, FL, Michael Wurm of Charlotte, NC, and Mary Kay Wurm (Mark McLain) of Stallings, NC; 6 beloved grandchildren and 6 beloved great grandchildren; as well as his sister, Marilyn Dubay (Mike Dubay) of Cleveland, OH.
A mass to celebrate Tom’s life will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, August 17 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy, with the burial to follow at 3700 Forest Lawn Drive. The mass and burial will be open to friends and family.
