Tierra “TT” S. Watson, a long time Charlotte resident entered into rest on June 16th, 2020 at age 28.

A cherished and beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, she was born May 31st, 1992 in Poughkeepsie, New York to Sylvia Williams and Milton Watson.

TT's smile could light up a room, but her heart made a room always shine twice as bright. Family was everything to her. TT was a great big sister to all of her siblings. The oldest of six, she was the leader of the pack. She was so strong and always found a way to pick herself back up in hard times. She was brave and always encouraged others to follow their dreams and not be afraid of what anybody thinks. Outgoing, adventurous, and curious about the world, TT was always making a new friend. She was there when you needed her and she loved deeply regardless of the love she got back in return.

Loved dearly by so many, TT leaves behind her mother; Sylvia, step-father; Jamel, father; Milton, sisters; Kiara, Briana, and Gabrielle, brothers; Tyree and Quincy, as well as her grandmother, Dweeta Shaw, aunts, Michelle Lesane, Valerie Smith (Arlen), Sharon Rich (Robin), Jenean Green (Roland), Samara Newkirk, Irey Cole (Howard), Bessie Buda (Adam), Nicola Watson, Carla Douglas (Frank), Nicole Wallen, Kristen Williams, Kisha Deer Coble (Vaughn), uncle, Clive Steward, cousins, and friends.

Tierra is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Marie Newkirk and Harry Williams; maternal great-grandparents, Timmy and Eva Newkirk and uncle, Jeffrey Lesane.

Tierra was such a beautiful soul! I met her when we were teenagers, a time in my life when I needed to be accepted and affirmed. T and the group that we formed did just that for me. From the love that I received, I became stronger within myself knowing that I belonged, I was loved, and that it was okay to be me. That has been one of the greatest gifts that has been given to me in this life. I thank God for T and the impact that she made in my life as well as in the life of others. I love you so much, T! Thank you for your friendship, your acceptance and your love. I wish that we had more time together. I will continue to honor you by growing, knowing, sharing and being me as best as I can. You will always be a part of me and my story! Until we meet again, T! I love you!

Always,
Patrice ❤️

The day my brother, Larry L. Newkirk married Marie Newkirk Williams and Marie N. Williams became a NEWKIRK again (no blood relation), the family of Larry L. Newkirk and his daughter Samara Lyn were blessed with five beautiful young to teen girls (Michelle, Valerie, Sharon, Jenean and Sylvia). Larry and Marie’s marriage was blessed with two more beautiful girls (Irey and Bessie). I had a lot of nieces to love. All eight are in my heart to love unconditionally.

Upon the long-illiness passing of their mother Marie, all except Irey and Bessie were of an age to begin or at an age to begin adult life on their own. But, I, personally promise Marie prior to her passing that I would look out for all of her daughters.

Eventually Larry remarried and added two boys to their family (Larry “LJ” and Willie Garrett).

Syl always had beautiful-big-bright eyes with a soft-tender-heart smile from a little girl into a grown adult. Syl and I share November 6th as our birthday and we always called or texted each other “Happy November 6th Birthday” every year!

I did not know all of Syl’s children, but TT was so much like her Mom Syl, I felt like I started all over with Syl’s eyes and smile again through TT and I again loved TT unconditionally.

To know TT was to love her. In life, whether up or down, was to love her. Regardless of TT living in NC, and me living in NY, was to love her. Her nickname, TT, will always put a smile on my face; and, I will see that smile again and those eyes again that I saw in the young girl Sylvia M. Williams that I now hold deep in my heart for Tierra “TT” Watson.

Love you forever, GrandAunt DD

So many memories started with high school soccer. We used to find all kinds of shenanigans years past high school. You were always about new adventures and people; the most outgoing person in a room. Tierra you will be truly missed. Love you.Rest easy my friend, until we meet again...

I met Tierra when I was 15 and we instantly became best friends. We did everything together and she taught me so much about life and the world. She was the first out of us to do everything: get a phone, get a job, get a car, etc. and she really inspired the rest of us to follow suit. She really knew how to make everyone in the room laugh and just take life a little less serious. My heart breaks because she was taken from us much too soon. I’m going to miss her smile, her wit, her laugh, her beautiful face, and her optimistic attitude. Thank you for being all that you are, we love you T.
