Timothy Delano

Timothy Lee Delano, 70, passed away gently on August 28, 2023 with his sister and his dear friend Bruce Love beside him. Tim was born and grew up in Indianapolis, IN, the son of the late Richard and Doris Delano.

He attended Cardinal Ritter High School and subsequently worked for 35 years in patient transport at IU-PUI medical center. After moving to Charlotte in 2011 to assist his aging father, Tim became very involved in his church, St. Peter’s Catholic, where he served as a sacristan, cross bearer, and Eucharistic minister. Tim loved his family, especially his extended family of cousins in Indianapolis, his Catholic faith tradition, his parish, and his God. He exhibited incredible character and patience after his stroke in 2022, and found a home and a community at Pavilion Health Center of Brightmore, where he spent the last year of his life.

Tim is survived by his sister, Deborah Delano, of Charlotte, and many dear cousins in the Indianapolis area and beyond. His family would like to thank the surgical and trauma ICU staff at Atrium hospital, as well as the generous and kind caregivers and therapists at Pavilion Health Center who cared for Tim over the past year. You were all such blessings in Tim’s life.

A funeral Mass will be offered at St. Peter Catholic Church, 507 S. Tryon St., Charlotte, NC 28202 on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Tim’s name to St. Peter Catholic Church.

A private interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park, where Tim will be buried near his parents.
