

He was born in Charlotte, August 29, 1927 to the late David Warner Estes and Florence Huffstickler Estes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his loving wife, Pauline Sherron Estes; sisters, Mary Jane McCall, Nettie Brigman, Peggy Kennedy, and brother, James Estes. He is survived by his children, Donna Rodriguez (Sam) of Jacksonville, NC, Doug Estes (Joyce) of Cherryville, NC, Frances Cline (Mickey) of Charlotte, and Gerald Smith (Linda) of Mt. Holly, NC. His sisters; Florence Russ and Betty Keziah, both of Monroe, NC, and Mary Price of Kannapolis, NC; and two brothers, David Estes of Monroe and Bobby Estes of Charlotte.
Some of his fondest memories are held around his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church, the American Legion in Paw Creek and the VFW. He served in the Army during WWII and military rites will be conducted at the committal service by the Lincoln County Marine Corps League. He will always be remembered by his great sense of humor and his love for his family. He will be missed but with great comfort knowing that he is with the Lord in Heaven.
Services will be held at noon Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Forest Lawn West Chapel with Reverend Steve Bass officiating. Interment will follow the service in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
