

Kirk was born Feb 6, 1924, in Chesterfield, SC, the son of the late Henry Walter Deese and Ruby Deese Vickery. He was also preceded in death by Jim Vickery(stepfather), 2 brothers - Carl and Joe Deese, sister Joyce Norris and several half brothers and half sisters.
Kirk's wife of 46 years, Faye B. Deese, passed away in 2012.
Kirk is survived by step-daughter, Roberta and husband James Zink of Rockwell; step-son Ronald and wife Priscilla Martin of Jacksonville, FL;son Jerry Ray Deese and daughter Phyllis Deese Kennedy; three grandsons: Jamey (Crystal) and Robbey (Amy) Zink and Fletcher Martin; granddaughter Dr. Sharon Segrest Canizares (Yamil) and six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Caleb, and Carter Zink, Aiden Segrest, Lyla Canizares, and Courtney Holshouser.
In life, he was a child of God, devoted husband, father and "one mean spoiling machine" to grandsons and great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Kirk was in the transportation field for 32 years prior to retirement. An active member of Midwood Baptist Church, serving in the choir for 48 years, deacon, Sunday School teacher and banking committee.
Kirk and Faye traveled all over the world, but he relished the Holy Land trip more than any.
For 23 years, he took children from the Thompson's Orphanage to see the annual Christmas parade on Thanksgiving in Charlotte.

Linda Thomas, niece, was faithful for visits, snacks, and prayers to "Uncle Kirk."
A visitation will be at 1pm Sunday, March 2, at Midwood Baptist Church with funeral at 2pm in the church sanctuary. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be sent to Midwood Baptist Church, 2029 Mecklenburg Ave., Charlotte, NC 28205.
