Walter H. Turner

Born July 7, 1949 in Cairo, GA, he was a son of the late Alvin Hugene Turner and Edna Ruth Cole Turner.

Following high school, Walter joined the US Navy and served more than 27 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. He was member of Hickory Gove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Michael Turner.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Jeter Turner; a son, Walter Hugene “Gene” Turner Jr. and his wife, Carla of Charlotte; three sisters, Ruth O’Leta Kendall and husband, Tommy of Fayetteville, NC, Patsy Rosalie Turner of Fayetteville, NC and Vivian Belle Godwin and husband, Gary of Macomb, MI; four grandchildren, Jacob Alvin Turner, Joseph Aaron Turner, Kyle Ashton Turner and Jadon Andrew Turner.

Funeral services are planned for 11:00 am Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Eric Eanes officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 am to 11:00 am Thursday at the church, 7424 E. WT Harris Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28215.

Burial with military honors will take place at 2:00 pm Thursday at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
