Mr. Winkler, 78, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012. Born February 22, 1934, Mr. Winkler was a lifelong Charlottean. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and was retired from Wachovia.
Mr. Winkler’s family includes June, his wife of 58 years; his daughter, Janice Absher (Phil); his grandson, Daniel Robinson; a step-granddaughter, Crystal Blackmon; his brother, Bill Winkler (Ann); his sister, Jeanne Thomas (Danny); and Tony Jasper, a long-time friend of the family.
A service to celebrate Mr. Winkler’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26th from the graveside in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. His family will receive friends at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Winkler was preceded in death by his parents and his sons, Wayne Winkler, Jr. and Jeffrey Winkler.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
