

Born on January 5, 1949, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Jose Torres and Monserrate Torres. After high school graduation, Wil joined the United States Army. His incredible military career spanned 23 years, with two combat tours to Vietnam. A proud patriot, Wil held a deep love for his Country, a sentiment that was evident throughout his decades of service and remained a cornerstone of his character throughout his life.
Wil was a devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed laughter, reading, watching movies, speaking of history, and most importantly, family.
He is survived by his three children, Ivette Torres of Charlotte, NC; Yvonne Torres of Cullman, AL; Richard Torres of Charlotte, NC; and two beloved grandchildren, Emmy Suchey and Aden Suchey, as well his sister Mirian Ramos of San Juan, PR.
A service to celebrate Wil’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16th, 2026 in the chapel of McEwen Funeral Service- Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. Full military honors will be accorded. The family will receive friends following the service.
