Mr. Willard Hoover Paige, born on September 4, 1928 in New Salem, in Union County, North Carolina, to the late Cleone and James Paige, passed away at age 90 on March 20, 2019 in York, South Carolina. Willard served in the Army from 1952 to 1954 in the Korean War as a cook. He also worked at Union Carbide as a material handler for almost 30 years. He retired from Homelite in 1994. Willard was married to the late Gladys Mullis Paige. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Debra Paige; brother, Tracy Paige; sisters, Eula Overcash, Lela Armstrong, Lois Mullis, Mary Purser, and Jimmie Rushing. Willard is survived by his son, Roger; daughters, Pam Ferguson (Freddy), and Susan Ferguson; grandchildren, Trey Ferguson (Noel), Paige Ferguson, and Ashley Duke (Garrett); great-grandchildren Macy, Addilyn, and Rhett Duke. He also leaves behind his greatly loved dog, Harley. The family invites donations in Willard’s name to Good Samaritan United Methodist Church building fund, 5220 Crowders Cove Road, Lake Wylie, South Carolina, 29710. Friends and family members may attend the visitation officiated by Reverend Tod Alexander and Reverend Randy Madsen, on Saturday, March 23 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Services, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, North Carolina, 28212. Chapel service is at 2:00 p.m. immediately followed by graveside at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, North Carolina, 28212.
