On Saturday, July 9, 2022, William Weston Dixon died In Winston Salem, NC where he had lived for 6 months. Weston was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Anna Conner Dixon (“Jackie” to those who knew her well). Weston was born in Sampson County, NC on October 8, 1923 to Iva Warren Dixon and Andrew Thaddeus Dixon. Weston and his older brother, Carlton, moved with their parents several times over the years for their father’s work as a Mortgage Insurance Farm Loan Specialist. They lived in Charlotte, NC, Columbia, SC, Macon, GA and Raleigh, NC. Their family was close-knit, with Weston and Carlton spending much time playing golf with their father and together as a family in church-related activities. The Dixon men’s love, and skill in golf won each of them trophies in many tournaments. Weston, in fact at age 17, won the Carolinas Junior Golf Tournament at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro. Weston served in the Army in World War II where he received a purple heart after being wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. He attended the University of South Carolina for two years before being drafted. After the war he graduated in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State. Weston began his work career with Little Construction Company and transitioned to Godley Construction Company where he became a Vice-President. He worked there for forty years, developing and submitting bids, and overseeing construction. Weston loved his family, his work, singing in the choir and serving on the Board of Trustees at Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church. He also loved playing his trumpet in secret, his friends, his neighbors, playing golf and remaining physically active throughout his life. Weston was known for his gentle good humor and his wry wit. He cared for Jackie in her final years with great love and compassion. He expressed often how much he missed her, and those who predeceased him: his parents, his brother, family and friends. We are grateful for his life, his faith, his loving commitment to us, his intelligence, his music and for his gentle wit. We are missing him already. Weston is survived by his daughter Linda (Marc); daughter Ann (Jeff); granddaughter Meredith Reinecke Hill (Scott); granddaughter Allison Reinecke Hodge (Jason); and grandson Kevin Reinecke (Kirby); grandson Jonathan Dixon Coppage; granddaughter Julianna Dixon Coppage; great-grandchildren Molly Hill; Elizabeth and Weston (named for Weston) Hodge; Charlie, Sam and Sadie Reinecke; and niece, Kate Gene Dixon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13 at 11:00 at Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church with entombment following at Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive visitors one hour before the service in the church sanctuary. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Weston's memory be made to Hawthorne Lane United
