Bill is survived by his wife Dana; his son Daniel; his brother John; his sisters Nina and Lisa; his step-mother Anne; two nephews and two nieces.
Bill was born and raised in Maryland. He attended Saint Mark’s Presbyterian Church and Winston Churchill High School, where he played football and ran track. He went to North Carolina State University where he continued his love of the game by walking onto the football team and playing for the Wolfpack. He graduated from NC State with a Communications degree in 1983.
Bill’s professional career was spent primarily in the textile industry where he was the nation’s top salesman for several major companies, and recently served as the Regional Vice President for Tarkett.
Bill loved music and was a prolific songwriter, guitar player, and singer for several bands he led including Destiny, Dolo, and 19 Lions. He shared his love of Jesus by playing for several church bands for over a decade.
With Rob Blackman, Bill filmed and produced “The Rob & Bill Talk Show” for several years. It was seen on a local cable access channel in the Raleigh area, and then on the local NBC affiliate, where it was a hit with the Marines and soldiers at Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune. His TV career blossomed into an opportunity for Rob and Bill to host the show “Gators” on ESPN 2, which they did for one season.
Bill loved family time, any time with friends, writing and playing music, golfing with his buddies, and anything that had to do with NC State. For Bill, red and white were more than just colors. After he played football for NC State, he never stopped loving and supporting the Wolfpack.
The real story of Bill Guandolo's life was his transformation into a true man of God and disciple of Jesus Christ. This was the center of Bill’s life and gave him what he needed to be a great husband to Dana, father to Daniel, and friend to so many. Bill’s zest for life was exponentially increased by his surrender to God, and was evident to everyone who knew him. Bill had the unique gift to make everyone feel like the most important and special person in the world.
More than anything, Bill hoped and prayed his life over the last decade reflected God’s love for all of us, and the hope we have when we trust in the Lord.
It certainly did. Well done good and faithful servant.
