

Born in Hamden, CT to the late Chester and Edith Hewitt on September 24, 1936, William attended and graduated from Hamden High School in 1954. After graduation from high school, he entered and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1958 during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, William attended Quinnipiac College and received a degree in business.
Before moving to Waxhaw, NC, he resided in Prospect, CT with his wife and family for over 50 years. He had a long career as a medical sales director from several companies and retired from Provista Medical Supply Company in 2009. While residing in Prospect he was very active in the community. He served on the first town council as well as helping to initiate the town baseball and football leagues. Later in life, he served on the town planning and development committee.
William is survived by Maria, his wife of 59 years; son, William and his wife Joni; daughter, Nancy and husband Steven Nystrom; and son Spencer; as well as his grandchildren, Rose, Chase, and twins Sophie and Bryce Hewitt.
A service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19th from the graveside in Prospect Cemetery in Prospect, CT.
